Weekend Premiership Bets
Portsmouth v West Brom ![]()
West Brom had their final chance last week at home to Stoke…and blew it. Once again the defending from the centre halves was abysmal, and it’s this crippling weakness that has cost them their place in the premiership.
Pompey have picked up under Paul Hart, winning 2 of their 3 home games and drawing all 3 away; their only loss being a 1-0 to Chelsea. Peter Crouch is having one of his streaks in front of goal for both club and country and though Glen Johnson’s attacking threat will be missed (1 game ban), Pompey will be too strong for the Baggies.
Pompey to win = 3-4 @ Sportingbet
Tottenham v West Ham
Spurs are one of the form sides in the division and are unbeaten at home in seven games. They were unlucky last week, when Palacios’ dismissal turned the game around. At home they are capable of beating anyone and I expect them to win all their remaining home games, if it wasn’t for 3 very difficult away fixtures I think 7th place would be theirs.
West Ham have had some excellent away results and are not a side easily turned over under Zola. However the injury to Carlton Cole is a huge loss, especially away from home where holding up the ball is crucial. Adding to that, Scott Parker is struggling to be fit and a home win looks on the cards.
Tottenham to win = 4-5 @ Skybet, Ladbrokes and Boylesport
Liverpool v Blackburn
Though Steven Gerrard is carrying an injury and is likely to be on the bench, Liverpool should have enough to bounce back from Wednesday’s defeat. Blackburn have lost all their games to the big four this season and Allardyce will not be too worried about losing this one; knowing they have Stoke away next week. The price of a home win is too skinny, so a correct score or goalscorer bet looks the way to go.
