Weekend Premiership Selections

Aston Villa FC BadgeAston Villa v ChelseaChelsea FC Badge

It promises to be an intriguing encounter in the midday game at Villa Park on Saturday. Martin O’Neill will be cursing his luck that this is Hiddink’s first game in charge, as new managers seem to be invincible in their first game nowadays, whether it be a caretaker or permanent boss (maybe its due to more managers getting sacked?) . Villa’s extra game in the Uefa Cup might see them a bit jaded here while Chelsea’s players may well be able to find the extra gears they have been missing recently. Chelsea’s defence is missing Carvalho, Cole and possibly Alex, while Villa might be missing Heskey and Milner to injury.

Chelsea to win 1-0 = 7-1 @ Stan James, Coral and Ladbrokes

Chelsea to win 2-1  = Skybet and William Hills

Man United FC BadgeMan United v Blackburn  Blackburn Rovers FC Badge

The United machine rolls on with yet another stroll in midweek. They have been outstanding in their ability to grind down teams during this run, as well as keeping it tight and snatching an away goal. Blackburn enter the match without a away goal in their last 4 matches, the last 3 being goalless draws; ironically their last away goals were at Old Trafford in the Carling Cup, going down 5-3. United might well have one eye on Europe in midweek, but it looks like another routine victory.

United to win 2-0 =11-2 @ Betfred, Boylesport

United to win 3-0 = 8-1 @ Blue Square

Newcastle United FC BadgeNewcastle v Everton Everton FC Badge

The Toffees are riding the crest of the wave at the moment, with  3 successive wins at home, and 1 defeat in 13 in all competitions. Newcastle on the other hand are stumbling from one game to the next, have a manager unable to manage and a front 3 who can’t stop handing sick notes in. Last weeks win at West Brom was handed to them on a silver plate, with some comical defending, so don’t read to much into it. Moyes’s men arrive without Fellaini and Cahill, two huge losses, but Jo returns from being cup tied. Newcastle include Viduka and Martins in their squad but they are likely to be on the bench. Everton have five 1-0 wins on the road this season and this could be another.

No Goalscorer = 9-1 @ Extrabet

1-0 Everton = 7-1 @ Bluesquare, Ladbrokes, Coral
